Woolworths successfully implements Centric PLM

Woolworths Proprietary Ltd, has successfully implemented Centric Software’s Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) solution. Centric Software provides the most innovative enterprise solutions to fashion, retail, footwear, outdoor, luxury and consumer goods companies to achieve strategic and operational digital transformation goals.

Woolworths selected Centric PLM to transform end-to-end product development and provide a platform for collaboration. It completed the initial implementation stage and is already enjoying the benefits of Centric PLM, said Woolworths in a press release.

“Our previous product development process was inefficient and time consuming,” said Shane Butlion, head of central business optimisation, Woolworths Fashion, Beauty and Home. “We lacked visibility across our product development lifecycle. Our business has evolved significantly, with expanded sourcing and trading regions, creating additional complexity in the management of these new channels.”

Ackermans shines again at Ask Afrika Kasi Star Brand Survery

The 10th annual AskAfrika Kasi Star Brands Survey, which measures brand relevance across all segments of the demographic, has awarded leading value retailer Ackermans the top award in the Clothing Retail: Children’s category.

The survey measures solus usage, which means that consumers will use only one brand within the product category, rather than a repertoire of favourite brands.

This is the third time Ackermans has been recognised in this category by the AskAfrika Kasi Star Brands Survey which aims to highlight the South African brands that consumers use loyally, across all categories. It has also previously been named an Icon Brand; considered by AskAfrika as one that unites the nation and provides the most value for money.

ITME Africa to initiate technology revolution in textiles

Initiating technology revolution in the African textile industry, the ITME Africa is scheduled to kick-start from February 14, 2020 in Ethiopia, Africa. Garnering tremendous response from the textile industry, the three-day international trade event shall host prominent and key textile machinery manufactures from India and across the globe.

Country Pavilions from Italy, Turkey, China & Switzerland will showcase the technology & engineering expertise. Poised to be more than an exhibition, ITME Africa 2020 is proposed to bring complete solutions for the textile industry. Paving way for a wave of knowledge, progress, growth and prosperity, the fair will be a confluence of business houses, investment opportunities and networking with technocrats and educators, ITME Africa said in a press release.

Stitch & Tex Expo to have two trade fairs

Stitch & Tex Expo – Afro Edition 2020 will hold two consecutive trade fairs. The first trade fair is dedicated to garment processing technologies including sewing, embroidery, fabrics and accessories. The second will feature textile processing technologies including weaving, spinning, knitting, and dyeing machinery, technologies and spare parts.

The exhibitions are meant to motivate employment, inspire skill development, stir entrepreneurship in the textiles business segment, achieve economic development in the African continent.

The two editions of Stitch & Tex Expo – Afro Edition 2020 are to be held in Egypt during February 27-March, 2020 and March 5-8, 2020.
